The Philippine National Police is activating search and rescue teams and other law and order teams for possible deployment and augmentation to Police Regional Office 3 today, Wednesday.

In a memorandum released and signed by Director for Operations, Police Major General Ma.O Aplasca, National Capital Region Police Office, Police Regional Office 1, PNP Special Action Force, Maritime Group, and CrimeLab were ordered to get ready for search and rescue operations in quake-stricken Porac, Pampanga.

Aplasca said this is the response of the PNP to sustain retrieval operations in Porac, which was hardly hit by the 6.1 magnitude earthquake last Monday.

Meanwhile, PRO 3 Regional Director, PBGen Joel Napoleon Coronel noted that fewer crimes were also recorded citing total crime volume has dropped by nearly 37% a day after the tremble shook Central Luzon.

According to the reports of PNP personnel deployed at ground zero, there were 10 individuals died, while 118 were injured, and four (4) were still being located.

“We continue our search and rescue efforts as we might still have chances of finding survivors and ensure the safety of every one at the same time we still have deployed personnel in the area to thwart criminal elements especially looters and profiteers who may take advantage of the situation,” Coronel said.
