Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar commended police officers in Northern Luzon and other parts of the country that were affected by the widespread flooding for their hard work and sacrifices in responding to the calls for assistance by the affected residents.
Floods and landslides have been experienced in some provinces in Northern Luzon which prompted the local police forces to be involved in search and rescue and other disaster response operations.
“I commend all our personnel in Northern Luzon and other areas severely affected by widespread flooding for their hard work and sacrifices in responding to the calls for assistance of our kababayan,” said PGen Eleazar.
“They also have their own families to attend to but the fact that they were visible during the disaster response with the LGU personnel only manifests their dedication to help.
As early as last week, the Chief PNP already directed unit commanders to coordinate with their respective local government units (LGUs) to prepare for the possible adverse effects of tropical storm “Maring”.
Part of the order is to place on standby PNP resources and personnel that would immediately respond to any untoward incident relating to the weather disturbance. Policemen were also tasked to assist in preemptive evacuations of residents in storm surge, flood and landslide-prone areas.
Local police forces are now instructed to assist in road-clearing operations and in providing the needed assistance for the affected residents in coordination with the LGUs.
Magkaisa at magtulong-tulong po tayo dito,” said PGen Eleazar.
