Operatives of the Philippine National Police together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency destroyed fully-grown marijuana plants estimated at Php10.5 million and arrested one weed cultivator Monday morning.

PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar identified the suspect as EDWIN SUPLAAG CAMAONGAY, 47 years old,  and a resident of Brgy. Langosig, Danao City.

Camaongay was arrested during the joint operation conducted by personnel of Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit/Provincial Intelligence Unit, Asturias Municipal Police Station, of Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO); and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 at Purok 1, Barangay Kaluangan, Asturias, Cebu on July 26 at around 7:30 AM and uprooted 10,150 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP value of PhP4,060,000.00 in his area.

In another operation, personnel of Regional Mobile Force Battalion, 1 Squad from 82 Infantry Battalion, 3ID PA, Toledo City PS and  PDEA7, and PDEG-SOU7 uprooted 32,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of PhP6,400,000 at Sitio Buyong, Brgy Matab-ang, Toledo City at around 3:00 PM of the same day.

Police identified the cultivator as FLORENCIO BASILIS, 40 years old who is still at large.

"Manhunt operations are now being done by the police operatives to capture the said suspect. Bahagi ng ating Intensified Cleanliness Policy program ang mas pinaigting na kampanya sa pagaresto ng mga nagtatanim at nagbebenta ng naturang halaman," Eleazar said.

Meanwhile, appropriate charges were being filed against the arrested suspect for Violation of R.A.9165,  Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
