The Most Wanted Person of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur died in an encounter with a police arresting team on Thursday.
PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas said SARAO MANGADANG has been eluding arrest for over 10 years since the Hon. Rasad Balindong, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 12 of Malabang, Lanao del Sur issued an order of his arrest back in 2010 for the crime of Murder.
“He cannot hide long enough to make a mockery of our justice system, his day of reckoning with the law has come,” the Chief PNP said.
Citing reports from Police Brigadier General Samuel Rodriguez, PNP Regional Director for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR), Sinas said, Mangadang opened fire with an M-14 battle rifle at the arresting team when they were about to serve the warrant in his hideout in Balagaban triggering a brief shootout with the lawmen wherein the suspect was wounded. He was brought by operatives to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by a physician.
Four other persons were arrested in the incident, including Akrudin Mangadang from whom operatives seized a fully-loaded M-16 assault rifle.
Investigation is ongoing to establish the identities of the three other arrested suspects.
