“Their surrender is a huge setback to the mainstream CTG as they took an important role in sustaining the movement by providing vital information, foods, medicines, and other combat materials” Sinas added.
The Chief PNP said, the surrenderees belong to the indigenous Mangyan tribe and who have always been the target of exploitation by the local CPP-NPA. They are regular members of Ganap na Kasapi (GK) under the Samahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) and Milisyang Bayan (MB) of the Lucio De Guzman Command of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee, he said.
“These tribesmen formed the Barangay Revolutionary Committee (BRC) in the area as organized by Mean Santillan aka “KaIda”, Secretary of KLG ICM (PSR 2nd Qtr 2020) to undertake organization and propaganda work, support logistical requirements (food supply, medical support, secure firearms) particularly in the area of Barangay Lisap, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro.
As “Ganap na Kasapi”, they have undergone the required “pag-aaral”, they also respond to CPP-NPA mobilization orders to participate in tactical offensives when called upon”, Sinas added.
The CPP-NPA defectors were welcomed and presented by MIMAROPA Regional Director Police Brigadier General Pascual G Muñoz Jr. to Police Major General Angelito A Casimiro, Director for Logistics who represented the PNP Chief during the Monday Morning Flag Raising Ceremony in commemoration of the 30th PNP Founding Anniversary held at the Regional Headquarters.
During the ceremony, the surrenderees turned-in an Intratec 9mm submachine gun, and two automatic pistols as they denounced the CPP-NPA-NDF, and expressed their Oath of Allegiance to the Philippine government.
Muñoz, for his part, assured them of the government assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). (PNP-PIO)
