A wanted member of the communist terrorist group died during an armed encounter with the police on Friday dawn, June 24

Initial police report revealed that at about 4:40 A.M., personnel from Masbate 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Pasay City Police Station were serving a Warrant of Arrest for Murder in Malibay, Pasay City against the subject Hubert Aplacador.

However, during the process, suspect put-up armed resistance that led to a gunfight between police operatives and the suspect.

PSSg Nikki Codera and PLT Rogelio Walay sustained gunshot wounds. They were brought to San Juan de Dios Medical Center, but PSSG Cordera was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect also sustained gunshot wound and died on the spot.

“Our police personnel tried to serve the warrant peacefully but the suspect was armed and was violent. Thus, the operating groups had to defend themselves. It is unfortunate that one of our comrades died while fulfilling his duty as a law enforcer. This is the risk that goes along with our job in ensuring a criminal-free and crime-free community,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said.
