Suspected Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) died in an armed encounter in Davao Oriental on September 13 2022.

Reports reaching the PNP headquarter revealed that one platoon of SP/48th IB personnel was conducting a hot pursuit operation when they encountered more or less five CNTs of believed to be members of WGF18, SRC2, SMRC.
The firefight lasted for about 10 minutes then the enemies withdrew in different directions.

Recovered at the scene is the cadaver of a certain Bert Era alyas Tatay Bert/Mayo, 64.

Other pieces of evidence seized were: one M16 rifle bearing SN: 2189203; acal .45 Colt M1991A1 pistol; back pack containing personal belongings; one magazine assembly for M16 rifle with five (5) rounds of ammo; and several empty shells of M16 rifle.

Another encounter was reported still in Davao Oriental at 10:00 PM on September 13. A Platoon from 48th IB, together with the S2 personnel of 28th IB (DS to 701Bragade) were engaged in the exchange of fire.

This resulted to the death of two CNTs identified as Eduardo Jamonir and Roland Ungan Sr. Firearms and ammunition were also recovered from them.

“Police authorities are in search of the remaining CNTs who escaped from the incident. We ask the community to exercise vigilance. Tulong-tulong tayo. Your cooperation will greatly contribute to tracking these criminal elements,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said.
