PNP PAID P8.99-M REWARD TO 41 TIPSTERS IN 2012
Philippine National Police has awarded a total of P8.99-million cash reward this year to confidential informants who provided vital information that led to the neutralization of 46 Top Most Wanted Persons listed in the PNP rogue’s gallery of suspects wanted by the law for heinous criminal offenses.
In a report to PNP Chief, Director General Nicanor A Bartolome, Police Director Ager P Ontog, PNP Director for Intelligence said seven confidential informants were the latest to be awarded P4.250-million reward for sharing information with police that led to the neutralization of seven Top Most Wanted men in Western Mindanao and Luzon.
According to Ontog, the seven wanted suspects were in involved in separate criminal actions of extremist forces in Mindanao, while the others were affiliated with the communist underground movement.
The three of these seven Top Most Wanted men were slain in armed engagements with government security forces while the rest were capture and taken into custody to stand trial.
Arrested were Abu Sayyaf member Jul WAHID alias Abu Jul who is wanted by the law for kidnapping and seriuous illegal detention who figured prominently in the infamous Lamitan Siege in 2001. He carried a reward of P350,000.00 for his arrest; Hadji Teng USMAN alias Hadji Tohame Usman, wanted for multiple Murder and multiple frustrated Murder in connection with the series of bombing incidents in KIdapawan City on October 5, 2007. The DILG-DND has offered a reward of P600,000.00 for his arrest; CPP/NPA leader Edgardo MOLINA alias Ka Dong/Bobbyof the Abra Provincial Party Committee who carried P1-million reward. He was arrested by police and military agents in Lacub, Abra in 2008; and Gemmanena B OPEÑA alias Rowena Ocfemia of the Bicol Regional Party Committee who carried P550,000.00 reward for her arrest. She was captured in Marikina City in 2010.
Three cashiered most wanted men slain by lawmen were CPP/NPA Southern Tagalog Finance officer Rolando PAMORADA with P700,000.00 rewatd who died in an encounter with government troops in BOngabong, Mindoro Oriental in 2010; Edres SABAK alias Faisal Ampuan, another suspect in the kidapawan City bombing in 2007 who carried a P700,000.00 reward. He was killed in an encounter with government forces in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao in 2010; and Ben RAFFY alias Abdulkarim Salim, another Abu Sayyaf member wanted for kidnapping in connection with the Lamitan Siege. With a P700,000.00 reward for his arrest. He was gunned down by by intelligence operatives in Lantawan, Basilan in 2010.
Last July, the PNP awarded Php2,335,000.00 reward to confidential informants who provided vital information that led to the arrest of 22 Most Wanted Persons listed in the PNP Order of Battle of persons wanted by the law for various criminal offenses.
In May 29, 2012, the PNP awarded Php2,410,000.00 reward to 16 confidential informants who provided information that led to the arrest of 17 Top Most Wanted Persons.
These amounts were funded from the PNP Reward System administered by the Directorate for Intelligence.
According to Ontog, the release of rewards was duly approved by the Board of Officers on Reward (BOR) based on DILG Memorandum Circulars that offer rewards for wanted persons. (PNP-PIO)
