Two armed suspects were gunned down while another was arrested in an encounter with police during a dawn raid in Zamboanga Sibugay on Tuesday.
Reports reaching PNP Chief, Director General Ricardo C Marquez in Camp Crame from Chief Supt Miguel Antonio Jr., Western Mindanao PNP Regional Director, also confirmed the wounding of a member of the operating troops and several persons including two minors.
PNP Spokesperson, Chief Supt Wilben Mayor identified the slain suspects as Edris MOHAMAD and Basilisa LLANOS, whose houses were the subjects of the Search Warrant operation carried out by the Provincial Public Safety Company under PSUPT. WILLIAM S GADAYAN at 3:50 AM in Barangay Poblacion, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.
Another suspect Noel LLANOS was arrested in the encounter.
The raiding team seized six high powered rifles including an AK-47 and M4 assault rifles, and a cal.45 pistol.
At least six persons were wounded after getting caught in the crossfire, among them 2 minors. They were treated at the Zambo Sibugay Provincial Hospital.
PO2 Noriel G Laureta the wounded member of the raiding team is set to be evacuated to Zamboanga City tomorrow for further treatment after undergoing major surgery.
The raid was part of One Time Big Time operations launched against criminal gangs and wanted persons under the Lambat-Sibat anti- crime strategy. (PNP-PIO)
