Elements of Philippine National Police arrested 26 suspects and recovered 32 short and long firearms during separate operations on February 13, 2016 in Mandaluyong City, Surigao del Sur, Cavite and Laguna.
Said police operations were part of 'One Time Big Time 'campaign launched against criminal gangs and wanted persons under the 'Lambat-Sibat' anti-crime strategy.
According to reports reaching Camp Crame, operatives of Anti-Transnational Crime Unit of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG - ATCU) arrested Ernesto Fernandez, a resident of unit 806 Tivoli Gardens, Mandaluyong City by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder. At about 8:30 AMyesterday, operatives of CIDG - ATCU implemented a search warrant that resulted in the confiscation of one(1) bushmaster with scope; one(1) US carbine; one(1)12 gauge shotgun; one(1)cal 45 pistol; two(2) cal 38 revs; one(1) hand grenade; and three(3) kilos of shabu.
Meanwhile, joint elements of Surigao del Sur CIDG, 13RPSB and Esperanza Municipal Police Station implemented four (4) Search Warrants at about 5:30 AM yesterday that resulted in the arrest of three (3) subjects namely, Gregorio Custan (with warrant of arrest for violation of P.D.705), Rudy Custan and Ronald Custan.
Confiscated pieces of evidence include:
a. 1 unit cal. 22 rifle
b. 1 unit KG9 cal.9mm
c. 1 unit cal.45 pistol
d. 1 unit cal.380 pistol
e. 2pcs of KG9 magazine (loaded with ammos)
f. 2pcs of cal.380 magazine (loaded with ammos)
g. 1pc MK2 hand grenade
h. 2 rounds of ammos for M-14 rifle
i. 1pc magazine of cal. 45 (loaded with ammos)
j. 29 rounds of live ammos of cal. 9mm
k. 17 rounds of live ammos of cal.380
l. 4 big sachets of suspected SHABU weighing MOL 12grams with DDB value of Php 36,000
m. 4 small sachets of suspected SHABU weighing MOL 1gram with DDB value of Php 3,000
n. Several pieces of drug paraphernalia, and
o. 85 pcs of illegal-cut round logs (lawaan)
In Region 4A, joint elements of CIDG Region 4A and Territorial Police Units of PRO CALABARZON served 32 search warrants in different barangays in Cavite and Laguna that resulted in the arrest of 22 persons, rescue of 3 minors, and seizure of 22 firearms of different calibers, 302 assorted ammos, 40 magazines, incl drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Aiming to address all factors affecting the upcoming national and local elections, Chief PNP Police Director General Ricardo Marquez also ordered the conduct of intensified police operations to neutralize criminal groups or elements that normally become prominent during election period and to strictly enforce the laws and regulations pertaining to the bearing and carrying of firearms.
